Danses de Pologne

In Poland, the most popular dances are couple dances in three, and each region has a different name for it — obereks, owijaks, mazurkas. We will be teaching owijok as it is danced in Sieradz, which rhythmically resembles bourrée a trois temps. In this dance we have two axis of rotation — one in between the couple and the second in the middle of the room, so we can experience the dance both as a couple and as a community. There are no complex figures and the dance is based on three simple steps. In this workshop we will focus on fluidity, balance and on understanding the forces that work in the spinning.
